The Northshore School District is moving the location for Bothell, Inglemoor and Woodinville high-school graduations in 2012 to Comcast Arena at Everett and will hold all ceremonies on one day.
The change was made to save money and better accommodate families, according to the district. Over the years, the costs for holding graduation ceremonies on the University of Washington campus increased, parking became a challenge and graduations had to be spread over three consecutive evenings.
The benefits of moving graduation ceremonies to the Comcast Arena at Everett include an overall cost savings, additional capacity, additional security and event support staff to help graduations run smoothly, reduced parking rates and less travel time for families, the district added.
The class of 2012 will graduate on June 13:
• Woodinville High, 11 a.m.
• Bothell High, 3 p.m.
• Inglemoor High, 7 p.m.
The times will remain constant, but each year a school will move up one time slot from the previous year. For example, the Woodinville High graduation will be at 11 a.m. in 2012, 3 p.m. in 2013 and 7 p.m. in 2014.
