Fire Marshal Denny Wright, who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year and had been undergoing treatment, passed away Nov. 15 due to unexpected complications.

“On behalf of City of Bothell Fire and E.M.S., it is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of Fire Marshal Denny Wright,” said City of Bothell Fire and E.M.S. Fire Chief Bob Van Horne. “The city is eternally grateful for the knowledge and dedication Denny brought to the city of Bothell in his 30 years of service. He was a very dear friend to many in this department and will be greatly missed and always remembered.”

Fire Marshal Wright joined the city of Bothell April 7, 1979, as a volunteer firefighter. On Oct. 1, 1979, he was hired as a full-time paid firefighter, and after years of working through the ranks, he was promoted to battalion chief/fire marshal Oct. 1, 1993. One of his many roles was serving as the department’s primary fire investigator.

Fire Marshal Wright will be remembered as a devoted husband, father and firefighter who had a love for life and the people around him. He is survived by his wife and two children.

A private memorial service will be held Dec. 2.
