Seven faculty members at Cascadia Community College were recently granted tenure by the college’s Board of Trustees. After nearly 10 years of serving students and the community, Cascadia now has 30 tenured faculty.
The newly tenured faculty members include Dr. Lisa Citron, who teaches economics; Robyn Ferret, Walter Hudsick and Natalie Serianni, who are all English faculty; Yuko Ito, who teaches Japanese; Danielle Powell, who teaches communications; and Erin Richards, who teaches political science.
In order to be considered by the Board of Trustees, tenure candidates participate in a rigorous process through which they examine and refine their approach to teaching and learning, demonstrate and document their service to the college and the community, and engage in various professional growth opportunities. Over the three-year tenure review period, students, peers and administrators observe their classes and provide written evaluations. In addition, all of the candidates put together portfolios of their work and accomplishments and make presentations to the Board of Trustees as part of the process required to be considered for tenure.
