The Washington State Senate passed a Capital Budget on June 30 that creates more than 45,000 jobs and invests more than $7 million in the greater Bothell area. The budget also includes $500,000 for Wayne land preservation.

”I am thrilled that funding was provided at the state level to protect this land,” said Sen. Rosemary McAuliffe, D-Bothell. “The preservation of this land is critical to the restoration and preservation of the state’s salmon population. Wayne land has the potential to be transformed into a beautiful park and place for education and environmental stewardship for generations to come.”

Other projects in the 1st Legislative District funded by the Capital budget include:

$1.3 million for main street revitalization in Mountlake Terrace

$ 1 million for the conservation of North Creek Forest

$500,000 to begin the preliminary development phase for a new, 115,000-square-foot academic STEM building at the University of Washington – Bothell

“UW Bothell has played a key role in revitalizing Bothell’s city center and transforming it into an all-American college small town,” McAuliffe said. “I am ecstatic that funding is included in this budget to help them begin developing a new STEM science building.”
