Gratton named
outstanding graduate
Western Washington University student Kaitlin Gratton, daughter of Jim and Judy Gratton of Bothell, was honored at commencement June 14 as Outstanding Graduate for the 2007-2008 academic year for the College of Humanities and Social Sciences’ Liberal Studies department.
Faculty members from each academic department selected one graduate to honor as Outstanding Graduate of the year. Selection is based on grades, research and writing, service to the campus and community and promise for the future.
Gratton will graduate with a bachelor of arts degree in humanities and a minor in French. She completed her senior thesis — on puritanism in first-and second-generation New England — with the assistance of her mentor, William K.B. Stoever. She received the Paul Woodring Scholarship for the College of the Humanities and Social Sciences and was a member of WWU’s University Honors Program.
