NSD is teaching Zoo-phonics

Northshore School District reading specialists are helping pre-school and kindergarten children learn to read with Zoo-phonics. The district is providing workshops that will teach parents and volunteers how to use Zoo-phonics to make it fun for their children to learn letter sounds, reading, spelling, and writing.

The class will be held on Oct. 20, 9:30 a.m. until noon at the Northshore Administrative Center, located at 3330 Monte Villa Parkway in Bothell.

Zoo-phonics is used in thousands of pre-school and kindergarten classrooms, including those in Northshore.

The program fully involves the child’s eyes, ears, mouth, and body and introduces children to pre-reading success in just a few weeks.

The workshop is free to those who identify the Northshore school where they volunteer. $20 per person for others. To register, go to www.nsd.org, click on Community Schools on the left side of the page, click on Registration Now Open and then select Volunteer Training. For more information, call 425-408-7676.
