The Six Oaks apartment complex in Bothell held their grand opening event on Nov. 5 with an open invitation to Northshore citizens.
Residents were invited to take a walk through the complex and its many open community spaces, along with a few units. Many of the community rooms were open, including “The Oak Commons” complete with ping pong and shuffleboard tables, three flat screen TVs and community BBQ and kitchen.
“I gotta say at one point [my favorite thing] was going to be the bocce ball court,” said Mark Hutchenson, vice president general manager of Insite Property Solutions, property management company for Six Oaks. “My newest one is probably the shuffle board. This room, for instance, I’ve had residents come out and say ‘On a Sunday morning, I’d rather just come here and hang out’.”
Created by MainStreet Property Group LLC and managed by Insite Property Solutions, this 203-unit apartment and retail building is located in the heart of the Downtown Bothell revitalization project.
MainStreet was recently selected by the city of Kenmore to redevelop the old park and ride lot across the street from City Hall for a 160 unit multifamily complex.
For future residents, the grand opening of Six Oaks allowed them to meet their new home and neighbors.
“I’m am so incredibly excited about moving in,” said Jennifer Spatafore, a future resident of Six Oaks. “We’ve been looking forward to it [and I] can’t wait to be able to call this home.”
While the event was an opportunity for future residents and community neighbors to take a peak around the site, it was also a chance for those who had worked on the project to see the fruition of their hard work. Todd Oberg and Adam Kay, civil engineers with BlueLine, were on hand to witness how the months and years of planning the groundwork and utilities came to fruition.
“To see everyone together who have worked really hard to get here and build this, to be part of that, is pretty cool – even though we were mostly outside doing everything leading up to this building,” Kay said. “It really makes it feel rewarding that we had a part in it even though it was the outside [and underground] part. It’s the foundation for everything else going on in Bothell… and it’s a great start.”
Just like many project going on in downtown Bothell, the Six Oaks was a collaboration between many private sector businesses and the city government, all hoping to bring downtown Bothell into the future.
“I think that Bothell is a great place to be and it will continue to be as the city grows and more businesses come in,” Hutchenson said.
One of the retail store fronts in Six Oaks has already opened, as well. Boeing Employees Credit Union (BECU) has opened its doors and will hold a grand opening celebration on Nov. 21.
Amaro Bistro Italian restaurant, the sister restaurant to the Pike Place Market’s well-known Il Bistro, is slated for a grand opening on Nov. 24 in the Six Oaks retail spaces.
