Bothell SAS students enter Vans Shoe Custom Culture contest

Secondary Academy for Success (SAS) students Marshall Anderson, Heather Sheppard, Cierra Watts and Hannah Donham are among the top 50 national semi-finalists in the Vans Shoes Custom Culture Contest.

The public can vote at the Custon Culture webiste. Voting ends at 9 p.m. on Monday, May 13. Online voting will determine the top five school finalists who will be notified May 14 and flown to New York City for the final event.

The winner of the final event will be selected by surprise celebrities and receive a $50,000 grand prize for their school’s art program.The four runners up will each receive $4,000 for their schools’ programs.

Each high school team received four pairs of Vans shoes to make their own creations representing one of four themes: action sports, music, art and local flavor. Vans Custom Culture art competition is designed to inspire high school students across the United States to embrace their creativity and draw attention to the importance of art in schools.
