A suspicious-looking device discovered by the Bothell Police Department (BPD) Thursday afternoon was determined safe after it was examined by bomb technicians.
The device was discovered in a U-Haul trailer police were serving with a search warrant.
“While doing so, they located a suspicious item they believed resembled (in appearance) a possible homemade explosive,” said Capt. Mike Johnson with BPD.
As a precaution, the City of Bothell requested bomb technicians to investigate, according to a city press release. In addition, the Bothell Municipal Court was evacuated and temporarily closed.
Just before 12:30 p.m., the BPD posted on its Twitter page that bomb technicians were en route to the campus to examine the package.
At about 1:40 p.m., BPD tweeted that the bomb technicians with the King County Sheriff’s Office determined that the item was safe and not a bomb.
Since then, the police department and municipal court complex operations have returned to normal.
