Bothell man dies in I-5 crash in Mountlake Terrace

The man, 28, reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt when the vehicle struck a bridge abutment.

A Bothell man crashed into a barrier along I-5 in Mountlake Terrace and died early Sunday morning.

The man, 28, reportedly was driving at a high speed on northbound I-5 near 236th Street SW when he sideswiped another vehicle around 2:30 a.m. He then hit a Jersey-style barrier and a concrete bridge abutment, the Washington State Patrol said.

He reportedly was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene. A passenger was transported to a local hospital. The other vehicle’s driver was not injured.
