Jake Cabuag, a member of Bothell American Legion Post 127, was elected the state commander at the State Convention July 16 in Spokane. He will serve a one-year term as the leader of some 36,000 Legionnaires in Washington state.
Cabuag is retired from the U.S. Coast Guard, where he served for 29 years. He has been an active member of the Bothell post, having served many committees and elected offices up to post commander for three years.
He has also been active in the American Legion 11th District, which consists of the 13 Legion posts in King County located outside metropolitan Seattle. He served one year as 11th District commander and has served as the state vice commander, Area No. 1, in the northwest part of the state.
As state commander, Cabuag will lead the Washington delegation to the National Convention Aug. 26-31 in Minneapolis, Minn.
