The Snohomish County Medical Examiner has ruled suicide as the cause of death in the case of a body found Aug. 3 outside a Bothell hotel.
“It was a suicide by hanging,” said Deputy Medical Examiner Carolyn Sanden.
Sanden declined to release any information about the victim. She said the county’s policy generally is not to identify the victims of suicide out of respect for those victims’ families.
A spokesman for the Bothell Police Department, Officer David Schlaegel stated his department’s investigation into the death is ongoing, but did say there appears to be no one other than the victim involved in the death, that there are no signs of foul play.
The victim was found about 7 a.m. Aug. 3 in some bushes outside the Extended Stay America, 923 228th St. S.E. The hotel is located in the area of State Route 527 and Interstate 405.
Just a few hours after the discovery of the body, police spokesperson Capt. Denise Langford said a fourth-story window was open above the spot where the victim was found. A rope was dangling from that window.
As did Schlaegel a few days later, Langford said there were no signs of anything suspicious.
