Bothell High students donate hundreds of gifts / Holiday giving

What’s in a number? Whether Bothell High students donated 400 or 500 gifts — numbers the second-period associated student body (ASB) organizers couldn’t decide on — everyone’s heart was in the right place this holiday season.

What’s in a number? Whether Bothell High students donated 400 or 500 gifts — numbers the second-period associated student body (ASB) organizers couldn’t decide on — everyone’s heart was in the right place this holiday season.

And a wealth of families from two local elementary schools who are set to receive the presents will surely be pleased with the Cougars’ efforts.

“It was cool to see my car completely filled up,” said senior Kelsey Brobeck of some of the gifts to be delivered to Frank Love and Crystal Springs schools.

Added senior Stephanie Kim: “I think we were really successful this year. I think that because of the state of the economy, people were a lot more generous this year.”

Senior Hailee Stringfellow noted that the gifts were stellar, and she was surprised and happy all in one at the students’ giving spirit.

The gift drive — run by the third-period leadership class, as well — lasted Nov. 24-Dec. 15 and went hand in hand with the ASB’s food drive to support local families and the Hopelink food bank. Thirty boxes of goods were donated.

Another senior Colby Burk was proud to be involved in the drives: “Most times with teenagers, (people think) a lot of projects don’t finish through. But it was cool to see we finished it, and it tells a lot about Bothell’s character.”
