The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) has selected Bothell High School senior Jessica Howe for its National Conservation Achievement Award in the youth category for 2013. She will accept the award on March 16 in Albuquerque, N.M.

“Jessica has selflessly done both school and community service (environmentally oriented) with Skyview Junior High School’s Green Team, as well as for the community during the past four years,” said John Sends who, along with Courtney Sullivan of the NWF, nominated Howe for the award. “I had her as one of my science students in seventh grade and she’s worked with our well respected environmental and sustainability programs ever since.”

Sends said that Jessica is tireless and devoted to improving her community’s environmental health.

“She is editor of the BHS newspaper and features environmental editorials to keep interest up in the student body in sustainability issues, as well as president of the BHS Earth Club,” said Sends.

She also runs track, plays soccer and basketball for Bothell High School and is enrolled in advanced and college level classes.
