Bothell City Manager Bob Stowe received the Award for Excellence from the Washington City/County Management Association (WCMA) last week. This is the fifth award Stowe has received from WCMA during his career, and the third statewide award that the city of Bothell has received this year.
The Award for Excellence recognizes an outstanding manager who has enhanced the effectiveness of local elected officials and consistently initiated creative and successful programs. Staff members who helped nominate Bothell’s city manager for the award said, “While the city’s goals and objectives are impressive, Bob relies on his good judgment to pursue only the best and ensures only ideas with a clear and successful path to achievement are undertaken. Bob leverages what ‘is’ to create what ‘can be’ and rarely accepts ‘no’ as an absolute response.”
This year, Bothell has received the Association of Washington Cities Municipal Excellence Award and the Governor’s Smart Communities Award. Both awards recognize Bothell’s achievement in developing and implementing its downtown revitalization plan.
Stowe has been Bothell’s city manager since January 2005. Before arriving in Bothell, Stowe was the city manager at Mill Creek for nine years and held similarly responsible positions for two other Washington cities (Lake Stevens – city administrator; Dayton – interim city administrator and planning and economic development director) for an additional 10 years.
