This fall, four Bothell City Council positions will be open; interested candidates for these positions must file between June 1-5 at the King County Elections Division (919 S.W. Grady Way, Renton) regardless if they are King or Snohomish County residents in Bothell city limits. The filing period this year reflects the primary election scheduled for Aug. 18. The general election is Nov. 3.
Interested candidates for these positions must be registered voters and they must pay a filing fee to run for office. Council positions up for election this year include Position 1 currently held by Joshua Freed; Position 3 currently held by Del Spivey; Position 5 currently held by Patrick Ewing; and Position 7 currently held by Sandy Guinn.
Bothell is a council-manager form of government. Council is made up of seven council members. Citizens elect council members to a four-year term, and then the Bothell City Council members elect which member will serve as mayor for a two-year term.
