Bothell Area Civil Air Patrol Squadron plans Oct. 6 open house

The Northshore Composite Squadron, a local unit of the Civil Air Patrol (CAP), is hosting an open house from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 6 at the Bothell US Army Reserve Center. According to Squadron Commander Capt. Linda Garross, the entire community is welcome to attend and learn more about CAP. Members of the squadron will greet visitors and explain CAP’s missions for America.

CAP was established Dec. 1, 1941, and is the official auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Northshore Composite Squadron’s open house is designed to create a greater awareness of CAP’s presence and contributions in the community. Members will also speak on helping with search and rescue, aerospace education and its cadet leadership program, which has activities such as glider and power flights, rocketry workshops, search-and-rescue training and assisting at air shows.

CAP’s Northshore Squadron meets in Bothell and serves the areas around Bothell, Kenmore, Northshore, Shoreline, Woodinville, Lynnwood, Everett and Mill Creek. Regular weekly meetings are held each Tuesday evening at the Bothell US Army Reserve Center, 130 228th St. S.W.
