Bothell Interim City Manager Bob Jean announced the timeline for hiring the new city manager at the city council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 20.
The application deadline was Thursday, Sept. 22, and Slavin Management Consultants, the firm hired to manage the search, is going through the applicants to find semi-finalists to present to the Bothell City Council at its Oct. 18 meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. at city hall. The council will then select finalists for the position, who will be invited to Bothell Nov. 18 and 19 for interviews.
An open house for the public to meet the candidates will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Nov. 18 at city hall, and interviews will take place during a special city council meeting from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 19, also at city hall. The council meeting will be open to the public as well, but audience members will not be able to ask questions of the candidates. The council will go into executive session for what is estimated to be the first hour of the meeting to establish interview protocol, and following the interviews, the council will return to executive session to discuss the candidates. The councilmembers could make a hiring decision as soon as that day or at a later date.
Jean started as interim city manager in June, following the city council’s May decision to fire former City Manager Bob Stowe.
