Bastyr University in Bothell is hosting health discussions in May and June, starting with a cancer care lecture May 8.
Doctors will talk about how integrative cancer support can help cancer patients throughout the treatment process at the free talk “How Integrative Cancer Care Improves Quality of Life” from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Bastyr Center for Natural Health. Integrative cancer care puts its focus on keeping your immune system strong throughout the entire process, from diagnosis and treatment decisions to restoration of immune function and health after completion of standard treatments. In addition to helping you cope with difficult side effects, chronic pain, fatigue and more, integrative cancer care also aims to help you reduce the risk of cancer recurrence.
Leanna J. Standish, who supervises students in Bastyr Center’s Integrative Cancer Team Care shift and sees patients one-on-one in Practitioner Care, will discuss integrative cancer care treatments and how they can help your body stay strong, including:
– Naturopathic medicine
– Acupuncture
– Botanical medicine
– Nutritional care
– Mind-body medicine
This talk is part the free series “Living Naturally: Conversations on Health and Happiness with Bastyr Experts,” presented by Bastyr University and its teaching clinic, Bastyr Center for Natural Health. All of the talks take place at Bastyr Center for Natural Health in Seattle and feature an audience Q-and-A session.
Also coming up:
– “Keeping Kids Healthy Naturally” from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 2, with Emily Lesnak, ND
– “Bite-Sized Nutrition” from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. June 12, with advanced students in Bastyr University’s Master of Science in Nutrition program offering a whirlwind of inspiring five-minute presentations.
