Sponsored by the Northshore School District, the Northshore Kiwanis and the Woodinville Chamber Education Committee, the 11th annual Backpacks for Kids campaign will run July 16 through Aug. 6.

The drive collects back-to-school supplies and backpacks to meet the needs of parents and families who might otherwise be unable to send children to school with the necessary supplies.

At the end of the campaign, with the help of Northshore school nurses, organizers hope to pass out more than 700 filled backpacks. Those in need can contact the nurse at any Northshore school.

Needed supplies include: new backpacks, three-ring binders, No. 2 lead pencils, pink pearl erasers, crayons, highlighters, colored pencils, pocket folders and similar items.

Monetary donations can be made with check payable to the “Backpacks for Kids” at either the Bothell or Woodinville Banner Bank locations. People can also send donations to the Northshore School District Administrative Center, 3330 Monte Village Parkway, Bothell, 98021.
