Youth theater group debuts at Northshore Performing Arts Center

Musicians Nick Lowe and Justin Townes Earle and the Inflatable Theater Company have been there in the past, and now the CORE Theatrics young actors will take the Northshore Performing Arts Center stage this summer.

Founded by Marianni Magnuson in 2007, CORE Theatrics is committed to the development and training of youths and young adults in the performing arts.

CORE will present its first SummerStock season with performers from around the Northwest.

They performed “Romeo and Juliet” last week — here’s CORE’s upcoming schedule:

“Godspell”

One of the biggest Broadway and off-Broadway successes of all time. The rock musical is based primarily on the Gospel According to St. Matthew. Set in New York City, post 9-11, the cast features older teens and young adults.

Performances are at 7 p.m. July 31, 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 1 and 2 p.m. Aug. 2.

“Into The Woods Jr.”

This younger cast of kids ages 8-14 will present this Broadway junior production, a new view of fairy-tale characters — Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and more — in an amusingly different take on the Brothers Grimm stories.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Aug. 6 and Aug. 7 and 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Aug. 8.

The Northshore Performing Arts Center is located at 9130 N.E. 180th St., Bothell. For more information and to order tickets, visit CORETheatrics.com.
