The event will kick off at 8 a.m. with the race starting at 8:30 a.m. Awards will be given for top age groups and overall winners of the 5K.
Promoting “Fun For All,” the Northshore Wranglers Inclusion Program provides fun and friendship for individuals of all abilities through year-round recreation, skills and socialization opportunities, as well as advocacy and family support.
Founded in 1998, it is one of the largest programs of its kind in the Puget Sound area with annual class attendance of 8,000-plus hours. Program offerings include life skills, health and fitness classes, Special Olympic sports, a music project program, year-round bowling team, theater, art, social programming, summer camps, martial arts, tennis, day activity program and the Kiwanis Aktion leadership club.
Net proceeds from the annual 5K fund raising event will support the Northshore Wranglers programming and Special Olympics athletes. The fundraising goal is $15,000.
According to a press release, each year the program offers hundreds of differently abled individuals the opportunity to connect and be accepted, learn new skills, triumph despite any disability and find joy in new-found confidence and belonging.
