An exhibit featuring the work of Jan Viney, award-winning fine-arts photographer from Bothell known for her lavish images of wild birds and fauna in their natural setting, will open May 8 at the Arts of Kenmore Gallery in Kenmore City Hall.
The public is invited to an opening-day reception for “The Art of Jan Viney Photography,” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. that will include a special presentation by the artist.
The photographer says her mission is to capture images that elicit emotion, believing that what we feel and see connects us to the beauty of nature and compels us protect it.
“My camera is the tool that connects me in intimate ways to my world,” she said.
The artist’s shimmering image of a Great Blue Heron, “Golden Moments,” is featured on the poster for the 17th annual Kenmore Art Show, which runs June 25-28 at Bastyr University. Viney’s photography will remain on display at the AOK Gallery until July 16.
The current exhibit, “The Art of Recycling,” will close April 30. AOK Gallery exhibits are made possible by sustaining support from the City of Kenmore and 4Culture. The mission of the Arts of Kenmore, a non-profit, all-volunteer organization, is to promote the arts in the Kenmore community through the annual art show and other programs, including arts grants to six public schools and regular exhibits at the AOK Gallery.
Kenmore City Hall is located at 18120 68th Ave. N.E in Kenmore.
