The non-profit Kindering Center in Bothell opened its second location at 19801 North Creek Parkway one year ago in March 2014. This month, representitaves invite the community to come tour Kindering for a Walk of Courage from 6-7 p.m. on May 6. Hear stories from staff and parents.
Kindering was established in 1962 by five young Eastside mothers of children with special needs. In the past five decades, Kindering has grown into the largest and most comprehensive early intervention center on the Eastside.
Honored with numerous awards and referenced in academic journals, Kindering is a well-recognized national leader in early intervention services for children ages birth to three with developmental delays or disabilities. The center treats children with delays caused by autism, cerebral palsy, chromosomal abnormalities, vision impairment, complications of prematurity abuse or neglect. They expanded their pediatric therapy program to include children through age 10 to meet the needs of the community.
Services include developmental assessments; physical; occupational; speech, and mental health therapies; special education; childcare consultation; nutrition/feeding therapy; outreach to homeless shelters, foster and kinship care interventions; family counseling; parent education; Sibshops and an inclusive toddler preschool.
