This harvest season, area residents can look forward to a wide range of events ranging from blood-curdling to heart-warming. Here is a list of just some of the events taking place in Nortshore during October.

This harvest season, area residents can look forward to a wide range of events ranging from blood-curdling to heart-warming. Here is a list of just some of the events taking place in Nortshore during October.

Oct. 8: Chilifest at 18224 103rd Avenue Northeast at 5:30 to 7:30.

Sampling the culinary creations of up to 15 chili chefs as they compete for various awards. Proceeds from the festival go to Hopelink, a local food bank. Admission is free, but voting for the People’s Choice chili runs one dollar each or a non-perishable food item.

Oct. 10-11: Country Village Harvest Festival at 23718 Bothell Everett Highway, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Country Village’s 28th annual Harvest Festival includes painting pumpkins, face painting, pony and train rides and live entertainment. The event is free and open to the public.

Oct. 14: Taco Del Mar grand opening from 4-6 p.m. at 18404 120th Avenue Northeast.

Oct. 15: Puget Sound Energy Kenmore Block Party from 3-6:30 p.m. at 192 Brewing, 7324 Northeast 175th Street.

Celebrating Kenmore’s business community, PSE will be hosting a free block party with food, drink, face painting and prizes provided by local businesses.

Oct. 16-17, 23-24: Bastyr University’s 17th Annual Haunted Trails starting at 6:30 p.m. on-campus.

This year’s Haunted Trails treats participants to a terrifying re-imagining of Bastyr’s signature trails intended to terrify and thrill. Boasting the Haunted Woods with scenes from The Ring and Sinister, a labyrinth, a Texas-style BBQ with a twist, lots of clowns and a mummy’s tomb. Children under eight are not allowed. Tickets are $20 at the door or online.

Oct. 17: Bothell Beer Festival from noon to 6 p.m. on 101st Street between Main and 183rd Street.

Offering cold beers, food and music from local breweries, vendors and musicians, the second annual Beer Festival is sure to be a hit with connoisseurs. Tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door.

Oct. 24: Kenmore Self Storage’s Fall Festival from 5 to 8 p.m. at 18716 68th Avenue Northeast.

Offering a self-guided tour through The Haunted Halls of the self storage facility, residents can trick-or-treat, get their fortune read, enjoy art from Emerald Moon or cold beer provided by Witch’s Brew.

This event is free, but participants are encouraged to donate dog or cat food for Pasados Safe Haven Holiday Pet Food Drive, or canned food for Hopelink food bank.
