EvergreenHealth has announced the recipients of its Health Hero award for the first quarter of 2017. Presented quarterly, the Health Hero award honors EvergreenHealth’s providers, staff, volunteers and clinical teams who have demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the health system’s core values and exceptional, compassionate care.
“We look forward to honoring our Health Heroes each quarter who inspire us with their commitment to delivering the highest quality, safe, compassionate care to every patient we serve,” EvergreenHealth CEO Bob Malte said. “These heroes, nominated by their peers and patients, are shining examples of the dedication every provider, staff member and volunteer brings to their work at EvergreenHealth, and we’re proud to recognize their contributions.”
Recipients of the award are selected from five categories, including physician, team, organizational, clinical, volunteer and patient safety heroes. The awardees are chosen for their valuable skills and work ethic, and also for their ability to cater to patients’ specific needs and form meaningful, personal connections with each family under their care. This quarter’s Health Heroes are:
Physician Hero: Rubin Maidan, MD, EvergreenHealth Heart & Vascular Care
Team Hero: Mackensie Shaw and Café 128
Organizational Hero: Mark Magistrale, EvergreenHealth Heart & Vascular Care, Diagnostic Imaging Services
Clinical Hero: Michele Jackson, CNM, ARNP, EvergreenHealth Midwifery Care
Volunteer Hero: Marilyn Wilson, Surgery Liaison
Patient Safety Heroes: Ian Ferguson and Gene Barker
The EvergreenHealth Health Hero program selects honorees from a variety of departments and levels who have displayed extraordinary compassion and excellence. Health Heroes are recognized in front of their peers, including more than 50 organizational leaders, and are celebrated throughout the quarter.
EvergreenHealth invites patients, staff and community members to submit nominations year-round to recognize the health care providers who have demonstrated above-and-beyond care.
