Bastyr University is hosting a free food and herb fair for the community May 31.

The event is from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is expected to bring thousands of visitors to the Kenmore campus. With this year’s theme “Food and Medicine on the Wild Side,” attendees will learn about plants and gardening.

Keynote speakers include Amy Stewart, the award-winning author of “The Drunken Botanist: The Plants that Create the World’s Great Drinks;” Todd Caldecott, clinical herbalist and ayurvedic practitioner and author of “Food as Medicine: The Theory and Practice of Food;” and John Sundstrom, chef and owner of the Seattle restaurant Lark. Guided walks through the Bastyr gardens and surrounding woods, cooking demos, music, relaxing herbal foot soaks and facials and children’s activities will be offered.

Event visitors can park for free at the Kenmore Park and Ride, located at 7346 N.E. Bothell Way, and take the free Bastyr shuttle directly to the Bastyr Herb and Food Fair. The bus runs every 15 minutes from 9:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. Limited parking also will be available on campus for a $5 fee. Bastyr University is located at 14500 Juanita Drive N.E., Kenmore, adjacent to St. Edward State Park.
