Thank your representatives for supporting life-changing GPE resolution | Letter to the editor

Millions of futures will be improved thanks to this funding.

Good news for the 263 million children in our world who have been unable to go to school: recent funding for the Global Partnership for Education. (Follow up to ‘Let your representatives know you support education on all levels to create a better world.’ Bothell-Kenmore Reporter, Jan. 23)

On Feb. 2, the GPE held their pledging conference, and the benefiting countries promised $110 billion, while donor countries pledged $2.3 billion funds to help create country plans to educate all their students.

The United States attended, but hasn’t pledged yet. Because of over 110 members of Congress co-sponsoring resolutions supporting the GPE, there will most likely be money put in the budget.

This will assist countries to put 25 million more children in school. That’s 25 million futures improved, 25 million young people terrorists will less likely recruit, 25 million healthier people, 25 million more children with hope.

Certainly worth a call or letter thanking Reps. DelBene, Reichert, Larsen, Smith, Kilmer, Herrera Beutler and Heck working together to support this life-changing resolution.
