I was appalled at the report that two girls were molested at the Bothell Regional Library. Certainly, I am outraged at the parents that were not with their children.
I frequently take my granddaughter to the library and it is amazing to me the children that are left in the children’s area. I have seen everything from jumping off tables, to screaming, to hysterical crying when a child does not see a parent, to running around the area.
At all these instances, I am dismayed by the parents who feel it is OK to leave their child without supervision. I am horrified for these young girls who had this awful thing happen to them, as well.
I hope that this will be a lesson to those parents thinking that the library can be a drop-off place for their child, that even for a moment, it is not OK to leave a young person without an adult to ensure their safety.
