A 1972 graduate of Bothell High, Jeffrey Tomlin, MD, has been named the chief medical officer of Evergreen Healthcare in Kirkland.

Tomlin is the executive director of Evergreen Surgical Center and the medical director of quality and surgical services at the hospital and an anesthesiologist. As CMO, he will be responsible for leading the clinical quality improvement and safety initiatives of Evergreen Healthcare.

Tomlin also serves as a captain in the Navy Reserve Medical Corps. He is the commanding officer in an Operational Health Support Unit based at Bremerton Naval Hospital. The Kirkland native graduated with distinction from the Naval Academy in 1976 received a commission in the Marine Corps and became a Naval aviator. When he resigned in 1982 to attend medical school at the University of Washington, Tomlin had flown more than 2,000 hours. He completed a residency in anesthesiology in 1990 and joined the medical staff at Evergreen.

“Jeff’s background makes him an ideal chief medical officer,” said Bob Malte, chief executive officer of Evergreen Healthcare. “In addition to his exceptional clinical reputation and experiences in anesthesiology, his aviation and leadership background in the Navy will help us apply the safety principles of aviation to health care.”

Tomlin now will oversee initiatives in the 275-bed acute care Evergreen Hospital Medical Center, Evergreen Healthcare’s 100 physician Primary Care Groups, Evergreen Home Care, Evergreen Hospice and community health programs.

According to Evergreen, Tomlin has repeatedly been named to top physician lists by area publications. He has earned numerous Navy decorations and honors. He has served as the spokesperson for Evergreen in televised health minutes.

He and his wife live in Kirkland.
