With the postseason looming for the 4A Kingco track teams, the Inglemoor Viking and Bothell Cougar teams are gearing up to send as many athletes as possible to the 4A state meet, Star Track, at Mount Tahoma High School on May 27 and 28.

Considering the starters that were on the hill for Monday night’s 4A Kingco marquee matchup between Redmond and Bothell High, the game had the makings of being a low-scoring pitcher’s duel. With both teams looking to keep their unbeaten league records intact, however, Mustang starter Dylan Davis’ mid-90s fastball could not find the strike zone, and Redmond’s high-octane offense proved too much for Kevin McShane, who was coming off a brilliant three-hit, eight-strikeout start against Garfield, as the Cougars fell short 11-9.

Much like the 2008-09 Inglemoor High boys basketball season, when the Vikings ran their record of 19-8 to a seventh-place finish at the 4A state tournament, this year’s squad possesses a boatload of senior leadership and talent.
