Bothell, Kenmore officials offer flooding tips

The cities of Bothell and Kenmore encourage residents to prepare for fall winds, rain and floods.

Tips

• Keep storm drains clear of leaves and debris in your local streets and place in yard-waste containers or composting bins

• Clear all gutters of leaves and debris and place in yard-waste containers or composting bins

• Have pre-made sandbags available in case of an unexpected urban flood

• Property and business owners should check storm drains frequently to remove leaves and debris around the grates

Emergency-preparedness tips include assembling or updating family disaster supplies kit for home, work and vehicle, listening to radio and television for winter-storm forecasts and properly equipping vehicles for winter driving.

Sandbags

The city of Kenmore has sandbag depots at strategic locations throughout the city for use by residents in the event of flooding. The sandbags are for emergencies only, do not take them unless a flood in imminent and your property is in danger.

Notify the city of Kenmore if you are interested in using the emergency sandbags. In your notification please provide your name, address, contact phone number, location of sandbags were taken from and number of sandbags taken (limit 50 per household). Notify City Hall by phone during business hours at (425) 398-8900; after hours leave a voice message or e-mail publicworks@ci.kenmore.wa.us.
