Three members of the Seattle Synchronized Swim Team between the ages of 11 and 14 passed out during a practice at Kenmore’s Carol Ann Wald Memorial Pool April 21.

The girls reportedly sank to the bottom during drills before their coach rescued them one at a time. Lifeguards and a pool manager used CPR to resuscitate the swimmers.

A fourth girl swam to the edge of the pool and complained of dizziness, while a team mother also passed out while bending over the pool’s edge, according to a report from the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Two of the swimmers were taken to Evergreen Hospital Medical Center in Redmond and released.

Another was taken to Children’s Hospital and Regional Medical Center in Seattle, where she was expected to be released April 22.

King County health officials found no problems with water and air quality or mechanical systems at the pool, located at Saint Edward State Park, during preliminary investigations.

They will continue to investigate the incident by interviewing witnesses and victims, as well as by reviewing pool records, according to Public Health — Seattle & King County spokeswoman Hilary Karasz.

Officials from the swim team told the Post-Intelligencer that the drill the girls were participating in was “basically a warm-up.”
