It isn’t often that your opponent puts up an eight-spot and you’re still celebrating at the game’s end, but the Inglemoor fastpitch team battled back from adversity to win a home 4A Kingco matchup against the Knights 10-8 on Monday night.
The Vikings led 2-0 heading into the fourth, when Newport erupted for eight runs to take a commanding lead.
In the next inning, the home team came back, plating five runs while taking advantage of the Knights’ fielding miscues, and ended up walking off with the win in the seventh inning.
The Vikings’ offense was highlighted by a home run by Taylor Peacocke, her third on the season, with Shelby Johnston and Lyndsey Porter both going 2-for-4.
The win elevated the Vikings to 4-2 in conference play and 5-6 overall.
Cougar fastpitch falls to Issaquah
The Bothell High fastpitch team drew first blood, but a bad fifth inning made the difference in a 7-3 loss to Issaquah on Monday night at home.
Nursing a 2-1 lead, the Eagles struck for four runs in the fifth inning to take the lead for good.
For Bothell, Sammy Davis led the offense with a 3-for-3 effort with a double, and Camille Weisenbach went 2-for-2 with a double and stolen base.
The loss dropped Bothell’s 4A Kingco league record to 3-3, and 6-5 overall.
Inglemoor falls to Eastlake at Sahalee
Playing at the tough Sahalee Country Club in Sammamish, the Eastlake Wolves took advantage of their home course knowledge to win a 4A Kingco golf match 278-299 on Monday afternoon.
Eastlake’s Megan Wotherspoon medaled with a 44, and the only Viking in the top five was Ellie Tillotson, who fired a 55.
