The PACE (Parents Active in Cooperative Education) Program at Woodmoor Elementary will present its second annual Auction Night from 7-11 p.m. March 25 at Januik Winery, 14710 Woodinville-Redmond Road N.E., Woodinville.
Tickets will be available at the door for $25; advance tickets can be purchased by contacting Sandra Baird at sandra_baird@frontier.com. Silent-auction items will range from students’ artwork to a cabin retreat weekend.
All proceeds from the event will directly benefit the Woodmoor PACE Program, which has been in the community for more than 40 years. Though the program is housed at Woodmoor, it also draws from other elementary schools in the district, including first- through sixth-graders from Kokanee, Moorlands, Fernwood, Maywood Hills and Canyon Creek.
PACE is a community of parents, children and teachers active in cooperative education to enrich and deepen learning, independence and leadership, reads a press release. Through parental volunteer hours and additional fund-raising, they are able to provide their students with more hands-on learning and supplemental educators for programs such as drama, Spanish, curriculum-based field trips, community outreach, environmental education and an expanded science program.
Peggy Bennett, Woodmoor PACE parent, said that about 200 people attended last year’s sold-out auction.
She noted that it’s an important night for two reasons: “You have the auction, but at the same time, you bond with the other parents.”
