As numbers continue to be counted, early results in local state elections all are holding up with one noticeable exception.
In District 1, Position 2, Bothell Republican Heidi Munson previously was holding on to a slim lead over Mountlake Terrace Democrat Luis Moscoso.
In total votes from both King and Snohomish counties, Moscoso is starting to build a lead of his own. As of late Nov. 5, Moscoso had earned 20,521 votes, or 50.3 percent of ballots cast, compared to Munson’s 20,230 ballots, or 49.6 percent.
Moscoso had been trailing in King County, but pulling ahead in Snohomish. Updated results put him in the lead in both local counties.
In King, Moscoso has 3,229 votes, 51 percent, to Munson’s 3,089 ballots, or 48.8 percent.
In Snohomish, Moscoso has 17,292 votes, 50.8 percent. Munson trails with 17,141 votes, 48.6 percent.
King County will next update its voter tallies on Nov. 8. The Snohomish County Website states new numbers will be available Nov. 6. According to a King County spokesperson, an automatic recount will result in any race if the final difference between candidates amounts to less than 2,000 votes and that difference also is equal to or less than one half of 1 percent of the total ballots cast for both candidates.
