Epiphany Lutheran in Kenmore to host community ‘Day of Service’

Epiphany Lutheran Church, located at 16450 Juanita Drive Northeast in Kenmore, will be hosting a community day called "Rise, Reach Out & Shine" this Saturday, Sept. 22. On this day, approximately 100 congregation members, families, friends and community residents will join together to take on various service projects in Kenmore, Bothell and Kirkland.

Epiphany Lutheran Church, located at 16450 Juanita Drive Northeast in Kenmore, will be hosting a community day called “Rise, Reach Out & Shine” this Saturday, Sept. 22.

On this day, approximately 100 congregation members, families, friends and community residents will join together to take on various service projects in Kenmore, Bothell and Kirkland.

Service projects are scheduled in two time periods, from 9 a.m.-noon and from 1-4 p.m. The Day of Service will close with a celebration dinner at Epiphany from 5-6:30 p.m., followed by a brief evening prayer service.

This year’s sponsored projects include:

Morning Projects

Juanita Bay clean-up project, sponsored by its Youth: Part of a major project by Green Kirkland Partnership and Washington Native Plant Society.

– Rhododendron Park clean-up, sponsored by its Elderberries and the City of Kenmore: Includes litter clean-up, weed pulling and dispersing mulch.

– Quilting at Epiphany, sponsored by its Quilting Group: Distribution to Compass Housing Alliance Cooperatives in Kenmore and Bothell.

– Appreciation gifts for military service personnel, sponsored by Inglemoor-Arrowhead Preschool: Creation of thank you cards and small appreciation gifts will be distributed by military Chaplains to active service men and women serving from the State of Washington.

Afternoon Projects

– Old hymn and classic song sing-along, sponsored by its musicians: Presented at The Gardens in Juanita and Spring Estates in Kenmore.

– Light housing repairs for Bothell Seniors, sponsored by its Facilities Group.

– Water bottle replenishment and pet waste bag hand-out on Burke Gilman Trail, sponsored by its Social Ministries Group: A water station on the east side of the 68th Street Underpass on the Burke-Gilman Trail will feature containers of cold water for water bottle replenishment and pet water bowls and waste bags, courtesy of the City of Bothell.

– St. Vincent de Paul donation sorting, sponsored by its Youth: Items that have been donated will be sorted for resale at their Kenmore facility.
