Army Staff Sgt. Kasumi K. Leonard has re-enlisted in the U.S. Army. She is the granddaughter of Robert Leonard of Bothell.

Leonard is a flutist assigned to The United States Army Field Band at Fort George G. Meade, Md. She has served in the military for three years.

She is the daughter of Mark Leonard and Izumi Kuroiwa of Mansion Ridge Road, Santa Fe, N.M. and niece of Matt and Peggy Leonard of Redmond.

Leonard graduated in 2005 from Roosevelt High School, Seattle, Wash. She earned a bachelor’s degree in 2009 from Eastman School of Music, Rochester, N.Y.
