Way to go, Kenmore Junior High kids with ‘Day of Silence’

Kudos to the kids at Kenmore Junior High for choosing a day of silence to protest bullying against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender students. With some parents disagreeing to this choice, it is clear the kids have more understanding of non-heterosexuals than those parents. It is hard to believe that in this day and age, some adults still don’t get it…. homosexuality is not a choice, nor a “lifestyle.” It is not a mental illness nor a character defect. It is simply the way one is born.

As an 80-something heterosexual couple, we are proud of the kids at Kenmore Junior High for their stand on this. Go for it, kids, and continue to help remove this element of misunderstanding and hatred from our society.
