RiverFest is on the way

The city of Bothell will present its eighth annual RiverFest: “Family Fun and Then Some” event from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 24 between Main and Northeast 185th streets.

The city of Bothell will present its eighth annual RiverFest: “Family Fun and Then Some” event from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 24 between Main and Northeast 185th streets.

Scheduled activities at various times and locations (subject to change) include:

• 7 a.m.:

Bothell Ski and Bike Summits of Bothell: One S.O.B. of a Bike Ride. This 38-mile bike ride takes riders on the eight hills in Bothell. Registration is $20 (by Aug. 15) or $25 after Aug. 15 and day of ride, which includes a T-shirt (first 250 participants) and rest stops; registration forms are available at www.summits-of-bothell.org. (Ride starts and finishes at the University of Washington, Bothell campus located at 18115 Campus Way N.E.)

• 10 a.m. to 3 p.m:

City of Bothell Show and Tell, a city and local resource fair, plus city vehicles on display (City Hall, 18305 101st Ave. N.E.);

Kiwanis of Northshore Car Show (Main Street);

Hobby and Volunteer Expo featuring local nonprofit organizations and clubs (101st Avenue Northeast);

Children’s activities and street entertainment;

Inflatable amusements for kids (101st Avenue Northeast);

Pie-eating contest (12:30 p.m.);

KBSG Prize Wheel and Seahawks Sea Gals;

Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce Craft and Merchants Market (Northeast 183rd Street).

• 1 p.m.:

The Afrodisiacs and Spazmatics in concert (101st Avenue Northeast).

Free daffodil bulbs

To kickstart the upcoming Bothell centennial celebration in 2009, free daffodil bulbs will be given away during RiverFest at the Parks and Recreation and Greater Bothell Chamber of Commerce booths. One free item per family; quantities are limited.
