A dominant second half gave the Inglemoor High School football team its second win of the season, 28-21, as the Vikings completed a big comeback to defeat Arlington at Pop Keeney Stadium Thursday.

The game was a seesaw battle of wills, with just one of the seven touchdowns scored coming through the air. Inglemoor’s Jake Jones would finish the game with three rushing touchdowns.

Arlington got on the board first with a 1-yard touchdown run. The Vikings managed to tie the game during the second quarter, as quarterback Hans Fortune found Jackson Gardner for a 2-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 7-7.

But just as fast as they tied the game, the Vikings fell behind. Arlington’s Max Gray ran the ensuing kickoff back 80 yards for a touchdown.

Inglemoor once again came back, driving the field to score on a Jake Jones 2-yard touchdown run.

The Eagles regained the lead just before halftime on a 1-yard touchdown score of their own. But it was the final score of the game for Arlington. Inglemoor’s defense stepped up during the second half, allowing Jones to take control on offense.

An 12-yard touchdown run by Jones during the third quarter tied the game and returned the momentum to Inglemoor. Jones followed the score with a 1-yard touchdown run to take the lead and sew up the victory.

The win gives Inglemoor a 2-6 record overall on the season with just a crossover game remaining next Friday.
