Northshore runners race well at 4A cross country meet

The four Northshore runners representing Bothell and Inglemoor at last Saturday's 4A state cross country meet in Pasco ran well, led by Inglemoor junior Michael Mendenhall who finished the 5K course at Sun Willows in 16 minutes, six seconds, and Bothell senior Nathan Conrad (16:08).

They crossed the finish line in 27th and 28th places, respectively.

Mendenhall, who was making his first trip to the state meet, ran a personal best 5K run and also posted the fourth-best time among Kingco participants.

Viking senior Chris Wilson, who earned a state berth in his first year of high school cross country, placed 51st overall in 16:22.

On the girls’ side, Kyra Burke overcame an illness to place 17th with a time of 18:53, qualifying for the Nike Borderclash in two weeks where she will race against the top runners from Oregon and Washington.
