The Inglemoor High School girls basketball team is ranked No. 2 in the state at the 4A level. They showed why on Saturday by holding Monroe, the only team to defeat the Vikings this season, to just 30 points at Bothell High School.
The 42-30 victory secures the team’s spot in the state tournament at the Tacoma Dome next week and a shot at the state title.
The team’s loss to Monroe earlier this year, during a holiday tournament, came without University of Washington-bound center Deja Strother. But the senior made her self known with 15 points and 15 rebounds during the contest.
Inglemoor began the game with a 15-4 first-quarter lead. From there the Vikings stayed ahead. Inglemoor secured the victory by holding Monroe to just seven fourth-quarter points.
The Vikings will take a No. 1 seed into the state tournament this week and look to complete a journey they hope will result in a state title.
