King County Parks is planning to make repairs to about 700 feet of its Sammamish River Trail through Bothell in mid-August, and the project will require a complete closure and detour around the work zone.

Beginning Aug. 13, the county will close the Sammamish River Trail from where the trail crosses 102nd Avenue Northeast to the trail’s bridge over the Sammamish River at Northeast 175th Street.

Much of the trail along this 700-foot-long stretch has been broken and disturbed from shallow tree roots, leading to unsafe conditions for trail users. The county’s project includes repaving the trail through this area.

King County has established a detour that will allow trail users to safely bypass the construction zone. The temporary detour will be clearly marked with signage in both directions.

Eastbound trail users will be detoured from the trail at the “Chicken Lot,” west of the trail’s intersection with 102nd Avenue Northeast, then turn south onto 102nd Avenue Northeast; then southeast onto East Riverside Drive; then east onto Northeast 175th Street and joining the and use these streets and return to the trail via a driveway near the trail bridge. Westbound trail users would take this detour in reverse.
