Bolstered by sophomore guard Damar Johnson’s game-high 29 points, Bothell High defeated highly rated Auburn Riverside, 69-55, in boys basketball action on Jan. 20.
Bothell drained 12 of 18 three-pointers, including five from Johnson, three from freshman guard Nikita Tyukalo and one each from junior guard Derek Lin, freshman guard Daniel Savovic, junior guard Andrew Sirmon and sophomore forward Jaiden Bernstine.
Senior center/forward Jordyn Turner notched 15 points and Tyukalo had 11 points for Bothell, which led 36-21 at halftime.
“Great offensive and defensive effort contributed to the win,” reads the Bothell High sports web site.
At press time, Auburn Riverside was 11-5 overall and Bothell was 6-9 overall.
Bothell followed up that performance with a 66-62 KingCo victory over Eastlake on Jan. 21. The Cougars were 2-6 in league at press time.
Johnson scored 24 points and snagged nine rebounds, Turner and Tyukalo had 11 points each and Lin nailed three treys.
On the Inglemoor boys’ side, the Vikings beat Issaquah, 81-77, on Jan. 21 to raise their KingCo record to 6-3 at press time.
Zach Shimek had 24 points for the Viks, including five treys; Peter Hansen had 20 points; and Logan Russell had 11 points, including three treys.
At press time, Inglemoor was 11-5 overall.
