This is a press release from the Northshore School District.
Congratulations to Bothell High School senior Rebecca Peoples for being named a National Achievement Scholarship finalist.
Peoples is one of 1,300 semifinalists from across the country awarded finalist status and is now in competition for one of 800 National Achievement Scholarships.
There are two types of National Achievement Scholarships. One is a one-time $2,500 National Achievement scholarship and the other is a corporate-sponsored Achievement Scholarship offered by corporations to finalists who plan to pursue a particular college major or career. These scholarships may either be renewable for four years of undergraduate study or one-time awards.
The National Achievement Scholarship Program is an academic competition providing recognition for outstanding Black American high school students. Black students may enter both the National Achievement Program and the National Merit® Program by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) and meeting other published requirements for participation.
Black American students can qualify for recognition and be honored as Scholars in both the National Merit Program and the National Achievement Program, but can receive only one monetary award from National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
