A 40-yard field goal from Charlie Shulkin with 1:51 left in the game gave the Bothell Cougars a 30-27 victory over the Graham-Kapowsin Eagles on Nov. 23.

The win sends the Cougars to the 4A state semifinals against their KingCo rival, the Woodinville Falcons, at 1 p.m. on Nov. 30 at Pop Keeney Stadium. The Cougars beat the Falcons earlier in the season in a 33-29 thriller on Oct. 11.

After falling behind 14-0 in the second quarter, Bothell quarterback Andrew Sirmon threw two touchdown passes to wide receiver Jordyn Turner to even the game up at halftime.

The Cougars took their first lead of the game early in the third quarter after Sirmon connected with wide receiver Evan Berry for a 31-yard touchdown pass to make it 21-14. The Eagles took the lead back after scoring two touchdowns in the third quarter to give them a 27-21 advantage going into the fourth quarter.

With 6:57 left in the game, Bothell tied it up with a 2-yard touchdown run from running back Christian Galvan. After a missed extra point, the game was even at 27.

After Shulkin kicked the go-ahead field goal, the Eagles got the ball back with a chance to win the game. The Eagles marched down to the Cougars’ 8-yard line, but the Bothell defense forced a fumble to secure the win.
