As a member of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association, the conviction of Dzhokar Tsarnaev reminded me of the pain I felt when I first heard of the Boston Marathon bombing. It pained me to see the loss of the innocent lives of my fellow American brothers and sisters.
It further pained me because the bombing is against the very essence of Islam while the word Islam literally translates to ‘peace.’ The Holy Quran clearly states, “…Whosever killing of one innocent is like that of the killing of all of mankind…” I wonder how Dzhokhar and other terrorists acting in the name of Islam could possibly justify their actions using Islam when such verses clearly condemn violence.
