Bothell High has brought home yet another trophy, this time the coveted Hogan Cup. The school’s improvisational comedy acting team, the Mighty Imps, took top honors Nov. 29 in Pike Place Market’s historic Market Theater in downtown Seattle.

The 13-member team headed by co-captains Aly Henniger and Tucker Cholvin bested teams from Holy Names Academy, Kamiak High and Mountlake Terrace High. High-school improv teams from around the Puget Sound region competed in matches during the fall, hoping to earn enough points to make it to the Hogan Cup.

Bothell has competed in improv for 12 years with this being its first Hogan Cup victory. The Imps qualified for the Hogan Cup several times, but it was their first appearance since 2008.

The Mighty Imps have been coached for several years now by Derek Kavan, a professional improvisational actor and member of Unexpected Productions. The theater group hosts the Hogan Cup annually in its effort to mentor students and bring improvisational acting to area high schools. Locally, Woodinville and Inglemoor’s high-school teams also competed this year.

Besides Bothell junior Henniger and Cholvin, a senior, team members include sophomores Sarah Miles, Melanie Williams and Chelsea Feoick; juniors Sarah White and Kara Bartlow; and seniors Audrey Michael, Austin Ascanio, Max Goeke, Kylie McErath, Kate Hovda and Alicia Bishop.
