Two days after its supposed closure, Bothell’s Country Village announced some shops will remain open until June 1 and customers are welcome.
While most shops have already closed or relocated, a Facebook post on April 2 announced seven local shops and businesses are still open. The post also confirmed that Country Village officials will host two auctions to sell off restaurant equipment, store fixtures, windmills, cabooses, yard art, plants, play equipment and memorabilia.
Country Village officials did not respond to multiple requests by the Reporter for comment, but a post on the Country Village Shops Facebook page stated that Garden of Beadin’, O’Malley & Potter, Artisan Market, Doll House Baked Goods, Art by Dennis Brown, LuvNailz and Syren’s Voice are still open.
“You are welcome to visit the Village throughout April and May but we ask that you not remove anything,” the Facebook post reads.
Officials said the first auction will take place toward the end of April and the second auction will take place in the first few weeks of May. Locals can keep up to date on the auctions by subscribing to a mailing list and sending their email address to Jennifer@countryvillagebothell.com.
Country Village continues to be well-loved by its community with the Facebook post announcing its continued operation reaching 145 comments and 135 shares, most sharing their love for the village, sadness at its closure and concern for the businesses and shops.
“As a family, we have thoroughly enjoyed creating and operating Country Village for thirty eight years,” the Facebook post reads. “And a huge thank you to all our loyal customers!”
Additionally, Country Village is still hosting community events with an auction and dinner on April 13 run by Il Punto, an Italian Cultural Center in Seattle.
Country Village was thought to be closing this month after rising property costs causing the owners to sell to a townhome developer. According to multiple reports, locals gathered on March 31 to celebrate the village’s history in the community, saying goodbye to local shops on their supposed last day.
Locals had known of the closure since Country Village owners announced an intent to sell in 2017. It’s unclear why the village will remain open an additional two months.
